Color for soap

I have been trying to make a Purple/ Violet color for soap. I have tried using a Matte Violet pigment powder but I keep getting various shades of gray. I tried adding Titanium Dioxide to make the soap white and opaque and then add the color I got a shade of grey. I tried without the Titanium Dioxide and I got a shade of stone grey. Does anyone know how I can correct this?
